This framed tauira is created using harakeke (flax) harvested from Omaka in Blenheim. The harakeke has been boiled to preserve it and was saved from the off-cuts of a kete. Tōtōpū refers to the robust or sturdy nature of this fibre. Although each whenu is so small, when woven together it is so strong.
