This framed tauira is created using harakeke (flax) harvested from Maketu in the Bay of Plenty. The harakeke has been boiled to preserve it, and dyed mid-brown. It was saved from the off-cuts of a kete. Maitaki is a kupu meaning ka pai, or good.
