This piece is created using fresh harakeke (flax) harvested from Koutu on the shores of Lake Rotorua, and whenu that has been boiled and dyed (orange) from Omaka in Blenheim. Aho Karawhiu has been created using the tuakana/teina style of weaving, where the orange whenu sits on top of the natural pieces. The name relates to the threads of vibrant energy  - summer is on its way!
