Oneone

This piece is created using harakeke (flax) harvested from Koutu on the shores of Lake Rotorua. The whenu has been boiled and dyed (brown) to preserve it. Oneone (pronounced oh-neh-oh-neh) is the general Māori word for soil or earth, and while it doesn’t specifically describe color, it is often used in contexts referring to the richness and life-giving quality of the soil.
