This framed tauira is created using harakeke (flax) harvested from the Taylor River in Blenheim. The harakeke has been boiled and dyed (brown) to preserve it and was saved from the off-cuts of a kete. Mārie refers to a state of 'peace' or 'tranquility' - much like the Taylor River which moves at a peaceful pace. This piece has been presented in a bamboo frame.
