This framed tauira is created using harakeke (flax) harvested from Omaka in Blenheim. The harakeke has been boiled to preserve it and dyed 'Forest Green'. Initially, this piece was to be a kete, but when that did not go to plan, the whenu were repurposed into a tauira. Oranga refers to the idea of being a survivor. Although it did not take the artists original intentioned form - it has survived!
