This piece is created using harakeke (flax) harvested from numerous places including; the Taylor River and Omaka Marae in Blenheim, as well as Waitangi, Te Puke. The whenu has been boiled and dyed (mid brown) to preserve it. Ngā Toenga refers to the  variety of whenu used to create this piece - the 'leftovers'. It is hung on a muka kiwai (handle).
