This framed tauira is created using harakeke (flax) harvested from Omaka in Blenheim. The harakeke has been boiled to preserve it and was saved from the off-cuts of a kete. Mariu represents the idea of optimism; by thinking positively and seeing the beauty before you, life can be joyful.
