Te Raki me te Tonga

This piece is created using boiled and dyed (forest green) harakeke from Blenheim, in the South Island, and fresh harakeke harvested from Koutu on the shores of Lake Rotorua, in the North Island. The name, Te Raki me te Tonga, means the north and south. These two pieces have been connected together using a hono. The bottom half will lighten as the harakeke ages and dries.
