This piece is created using harakeke (flax) harvested from Koutu on the shores of Lake Rotorua. It is created from fresh whenu. The particularly rustic look is exemplified in its name; Tōtōkau, meaning 'unadorned'. The whenu will continue to lighten as it dries.
