Aho Ngahere

This piece is created using boiled harakeke (flax) harvested from Koutu on the shores of Lake Rotorua, and whenu that has been dyed (forest green) from Whakarewarewa. Aho Ngāhere has been created using the tuakana/teina style of weaving, where the green whenu sits on top of the natural pieces. “Aho Ngāhere” speaks to the threads that connect us to the forest. The harakeke grows nearby, drawing strength from the whenua, and these woven strands echo the life, calm, and resilience of the ngahere that surrounds them.
